| Dolny Kubin lies in the valley between Mala Fatra, Chocske vrchy and Oravska Magura highlands. The town, though small, has a rich history connected to the persons of P.O Hviezdoslav, one of the greatest slovak poets, and with the fellowship around Ludovit Stur, who fought for Slovak autonomy in the mid 19th century. The town's location inbetween three highlands predestins it to be a tourist centre. Hiking and skiing in the pristine nature is an unmatched experience.
